I reckon it's just past half way through the summer holidays. My kids go back 3 weeks today.
Thus far I am surviving pretty well.
My house isn't tho.
I am never a good house worker. I just don't enjoy it much, but I enjoy it even less when that which I do, is undone whilst I am still doing it.
I haven't had time to have a proper clean since the kids broke up. Things are just getting dabbed at with anti-bacterial wipes when I get a minute.
I wash up. And while I am doing it things are being taken from draining board and dirtied again without ever making it into the cupboard.
I grocery shop. But I seem to have raised weird bottomless pit locust people who just suck food out of cupboards in seconds flat. Even when I get time to make a nutritious meal, half the ingredients I expect to find have vanished. Who is snacking on dry pasta????
I wash clothes daily. But the washing basket gets fuller and fuller.
We seem to be departing from our usual homely level of mess, and heading full throttle towards chaos and I can't find the brakes!
I want a couple of days to dedicate to getting back on top of things, but short of hiring a nanny I am not sure where those hours will come from.
I can barely get to the end of a train of thought without :-
- Someone interrupting with a request for sustenance/a pencil/clean pants/my refereeing skills.
- A child wanting to share some fascinating piece of vital information about a band/tv show/video game I have never heard of.
- Having to use my super speedy powers to launch across rooms to rescue the baby from certain doom.
- All three of the above at once.
So the chances of having a big sort out are slim!
Might have to ask my mum to have Syd for a day when the other two are back at school just to have time for big clean!
Seems a waste of babysitting tho. Would far rather spend child free time in a pub with adults than scrubbing a toilet...
Love Miss not even time to brush my hair Cisco xxx
My son is 4 months so i really havent got an excuse, apart the weathers been so nice i just dont want to sit indoors.
ReplyDeleteI mopped all the floors this morning, only to let the dog in and be greeted by muddy footprints..why do we bother?
On the food front, i spend so much money planning meals.. then find myself sitting in front of the cuboards saying.. theres nothing in..what can we have?

Sonya, just get them to do some... :D I'm sure Betsy would "love" it!
ReplyDeleteHaha I really should! Betsy is such a moaner- she seems to think working 3 days a week lets her off all chores!! Tho she does have Syd for me for an hour here and there while I cook/ wash up.
DeleteI totally feel your pain! I could have written this myself - the endless chatter about games and books, the continual demands for food/ drink/ clothes, the people walking through the house in dirty shoes while I'm STILL HOOVERING!
ReplyDeleteWith you all the way there - been promising myself all week I'd get the washing and ironing put away! xx
