Flock Frocks and Old Clocks.

When one is approaching a birthday of doom, otherwise known as birthdays with a zero on the end, (and a 4 in the front in my case), it is normal to assess yourself and behaviour to check for signs of middle/old aged ness.

My current mid-life crisis seems to be taking the form of buying dresses festooned with creatures. Flock Frocks if you will. Herd Dresses. I love them. I like to wear them with shiny lace up, thick soled boots and knitted tights that bag about the knees. I also add cardigans for the cold. There is only one place this behaviour is going to end, and it involves wrap-around flowery aprons. And I am quite looking forward to it.

I also appear to have started purchasing old fashioned things for the house, so that not only will I have gained my Nan's dress sense, but also her interior design. This weeks new addition is this clock. It is a wind up clock. It caused my teenager to ask if lots of clocks used to run on clockwork. Hmmmm. One would have hoped the word 'clockwork' was self-explanatory in this context, but apparently not... She is also moaning that it tick tocks too loudly. I quite like it myself. Hypnotic almost.

The one redeeming feature of my shopping purchases this week is that I also purchased a limited edition 7" single by she who rocks the world - Kim Deal, so all is not lost yet. There is still a little rock'n'roll flowing through these old and clogged veins.
