Gorgeous George and The Giant Geriatric Generator - book #8

Is it cheating to include books I have read with my 9 year old as part of my 50 book challenge? Not
in my mind! I still read to him before bed every night, and we enjoy the ritual of it, as well as it
having ten minutes to ourselves.

My Little Big Town sent me and Max a copy of Stuart Reids 'Gorgeous George and the Giant Geriatric Generator', and we have really enjoyed it. It is a mystery story combined with some bottom burping humour! Lots of descriptive smelly farting to be giggled at, but also a really great tale, with super illustrations.

George has many mysteries to solve- some about smelling of wee, some more sinister involving mysterious disappearances. Along with his Grandpa Jock he sets out to find some answers! A real thriller of a plotline, whose edges are softened enough by the humour not to be too frightening at bedtime.

We loved this; funny, exciting, gripping and really rather good indeed and we very much hope there is going to be a sequel! It is a great book for boys, girls and grown ups, one of those rare children's books that is as enjoyable for the adult as the child!

disclosure- we received a free copy of the book for review purposes- but all views are our own.

  1. We've been sent a copy of this one too - and I can't persuade my boys to read it! Grrr! It looks similar to Jeremy Strong, which we all love. I'm going to tell tham about this now to see if that will help persuade them!
