Tattooed Eggs.

Sometimes being a parent requires you to undertake tasks outside your comfort zone. For example decorate eggs for Easter. Sounds simple enough doesn’t it?! No. Because it involves 2 things I spectacularly suck at. Craft and artistic ability.

But then, I remembered something I saw last year. Now I cannot remember where I saw it, but the idea stayed with me. Simple but effective. I would tattoo our eggs.

You remember the temporary tattoos you used to play with as a kid? Where you wet the backing paper to remove the transfer onto yourself? Well I did that. But to eggs. And yes, while I was doing it I did question my sanity slighty- but LOOK HOW PRETTY THEY ARE!!!

If you are letting children help I would hard boil them first, just in case, but Syd is too small to help, and the others were at school I took the risky route and did them fresh.  Of course people cleverer than I could probably do that thing with a pin and decorate empty shells, but my Grandmothers never taught me to suck eggs! If empty, these would make really lovely decorations, and with a coat of varnish could last a long time, or you could just scramble them for lunch, YUM!

I am so not crafty and am not looking forward to the day where I am going to have to get involved in all these activities with my wee man! Right now he is happy with crayons, markers and colouring and stickers and I can just about manage that. This is a rather clever idea.
