I am, like most people, a mixture of many things. I am a musician, a punk lover, a fan of the rock. I am also a girl, and as such I fulfil the cliche and like cushions. Our house decor reflects our personalities and our love of the loud stuff. We have plenty of black and animal print kicking about and our wall art is virtually all music related, but I still like a feminine touch. A cushion, a soft throw. Just not often flowery ones, tho I am partial to a bit of retro floral.
Bags of Love are a fab personalised gift company, offering a range of bags, cushions, canvases and all sorts of things that you can make your own with pictures and words. They offered me the option of picking an item to review.
I very, very nearly chose to have one of these circus lettered cushions made, with the word ‘rock’n’roll’ on it, but at the last minute I swerved away and chose a picture cushion instead.
Most people would opt for a picture of their beloved children or pets I suspect, and they would be a lovely gift or keepsake that way. I also considered choosing a photo of a landscape I love, and that too could be a gorgeous contemporary interior design piece.
But no, being me I opted for a picture of one of my favourite bands. So here it is, a Damned cushion featuring a classic photo straight from the 1970s! I absolutely love it, and it adds a fab quirky edge to the sofa! My favourite thing about it is that it is pretty much unique, you choose any picture you like, to suit your taste, personality and decor, and within a day or two you have your own design of cushion ready to get comfy with.
Using the design feature on the website is really easy, and the end result was here in less than 48 hours. The quality is of print excellent. I love the little heart clasp on the zip. It is plumply filled and squeezably soft. The cushion backing has a touchable suedette feel, and you can choose from a selection of colours. It is easily the best cushion I have ever seen, and now I want a full range of band cushions, as my others are looking very dull next to the new addition!
The cushion shown is £39.99 and you can find details of how to get started designing your own here. Whether you opt for something quirky, or something more traditional I think you will be pleased with the end result. It isn’t as cheap as picking up a pre-made cushion from a catalogue store, but then you are paying for a bespoke service, and unique high quality item.
Right, I am off to squeeze Dave Vanian some more….
