Cooking With Toddlers – Clown Pizza Muffins

Now Syd is almost two we are starting to be able to do slightly more complex projects together, and am delighted to be able to start a bit of fun with food! Today we made Clown Faced Pizza Muffins, and he really enjoyed getting involved.

These are VERY easy to make, include a little something towards your 5 a day, and are lots of fun!

Ingredients

English Muffins

Ketchup
Oregano
Grated cheese- we used cheddar and mozerella – but its up to you
Courgette, tomatoes, raisins or similar for face.
Salad for hair
Cucumber for bow tie

Method

Spread some tomato ketchup over the muffin. A blunt butter knife is ideal for toddlers to safely use.

Add a little sprinkle of oregano- Syd attempted to grab handfuls, but managed to teach him to pinch instead!

Adding cheese went something like this – one handful for the pizza, one handful for Syd’s mouth!

You can use whatever veg you like to make the faces, although tomatoes are great for a clowns nose!

Steves Leaves had sent us a sample of their new fennel tops and sweet leaves. Nice subtle flavours for small (and big) palates, and fab fruity dressings too. The fennel tops are ideal for crazy clown hair!
Add a cucumber bow tie and….TA-DA!

I think he looks rather fun, and we all enjoyed eating them for our lunch!
