I’m In The Money
Well, actually I am not, I am in my normal not quite broke, but not quite got any savings either state. But imagine if I won £20,000, what would I do with it…..
Learn to drive. I am exactly the type of fool who can’t drive even though I am 40. I had lessons at 17, but loathed it and gave up. Then was a parent by 23, and have never had enough spare cash to give it a proper go since. I live in a small town, and every where is easily walking distance, but I would love to be able to take the kids further afield in the summer holidays and the like. Or drive home from nights out as I currently don’t drink much. It would add a little more freedom to life!
If I succeed in that, then I will need something to drive, my other half uses the car for work, so I would buy something for me to use. And this is where I am torn. I have always wanted a Hilman Super Minx. I have the silver name plate off the back of one, but that is as close as I have got. They are such gorgeous little cars- all the curves, chrome and fins of classic American cars, but dinky. Perfect. BUT- I would also like a camper van, so we can stay in it at festivals, and take impromptu trips up the coast in good weather. I would love it, the kids would love it – vehicle and instant holiday in one!
|And if I can drive it to San Francisco even better…more on that later!
I would buy my Other Half some snazzy recording equipment so he can tinker away happily creating beautiful noisy music.
I would buy me some gorgeous book shelves, and a wooden bureau. Maybe even an old leather wingback chair. And a pipe. You need a pipe with that sort of chair, even if it is just a bubble one…
I would put a little away for each of the kids.
I would pay for someone to pop a paper bag over David Camerons head so I dont have to see his face.
I would buy an enormous stash of biscuits, books, and vinyl.
I would give some to favourite charities.
I would plot the Great American Road Trip of my dreams! My Great Grandfather was a chauffeur, and drove two rich old ladies from New York to San Francisco in the early 1930s. Using the postcards he regularly sent home to my Granddad we have plotted the route he took, and I would love to follow it one day.
I would soon run out of cash…
What would you spend it on?
