The Summer Holidays – A Review
I cannot believe we are already into the dregs of the summer holidays. By Thursday both my big kids will be firmly ensconced in the educational care of others. I will miss them, if not the constant nagging. And Syd will miss them even more. While we tearfully prepare ourselves for the end, with last minute trips to the shops for stationery, and final treat lunches in cafes, I thought I would review our summer….
Weather – Mostly good. Moments of too hot for this cardigan fan. Rare damp spells, some caused by leaky nappies as opposed to leaky clouds.
Accommodation – Reasonable, if slightly shabby. No maid service, in fact some days it looked as if nobody had done any housework at all.
Activities – Lots of park visits. Roundabout nausea for me, fun for small peeps. Multiple attendances at play cafe – Latte consumption up 50% on normal. Museum visits were educational and enjoyable. Could try harder for variety, but limited options available in vicinity.
Behaviour – Stroppy with intermittent bouts of joy. Well, you would be stroppy too if you were endlessly refereeing arguments.
Cost – Monumental.
Fun – Yes. In between complaints of boredom, bickering and general apathy, there was masses of fun.
Cake – Plenty consumed.
Highlights – Birthdays x 2, Camp Bestival.
Overall – 8/10 A good summer holidays, mostly enjoyed by all. Some difficulties in finding activities that appeal to all age groups from 2 to 40. Definitely more high than lows though. Will be doing it again next year.
