It has been a while hasn’t it? In fact so long that some of you may have never heard the sheer brilliance of my biscuit jingle, so before we get onto more important wafer news, here it is….
I had a dream this week, but unlike Martin Luther King, mine wasn’t really destined to bring about any kind of revolution, as it involved biscuits.
More specifically, pink wafer biscuits. A very 1970s biscuit. One that reminds me of tea time at my Nan’s. Coal fire, The Generation Game, a beaker of lemonade and pink wafer biscuits. I hadn’t had them in years, but the dream sent me scurrying to the biscuit aisle to see if they still do them, and joy, there they were in their pink wrappered glory.
Quite a dainty biscuit, perfect for a dolls tea party. Almost bland really, wafers and a cream filling, but still nice. And that is the point of a proper biscuit. It is a modest treat, nice rather than magnificent.
So in honour of their rediscovery, they get my coveted biscuit of the week title. Yum.
There is something very special about pink wafer biscuit – like you say a hang over from childhood! I may have to go buy some now as well!

Weβve had those in our biscuit dog at work. Yes, we have a biscuit dog, weβre so unbelievably rock and roll. I believe bands may have helped themselves to a biscuit from said dog too.

Ahh….the humble pink wafer. Is it weird to say I loved the smell of them more than the taste? Yes, I’m a pink wafer sniffer! There are definitely certain biscuits that remind us of our childhoods. For me it was pink wafers, garabaldi, the fruit club biscuits and Gold biscuit bars. Damn! I really want a biscuit now!
OOh yes! Garibaldis and fruit clubs were part of mine too- I reckon the chocolate has got thinner on club biscuits over the years!
We were living in France when we celebrated our eldest daughter’s first birthday, so I made my mum bring some of these over from the UK for the birthday party, it felt so wrong not to have them! They remind me so much of my childhood.

I absolutely adore pink wafers! Not the classiest biscuit but so darn tasty and not too unhealthy either (well unless you sit and scoff the whole packet!)

I had forgotten these even existed. I’m going to have to introduce my kids to them, as they are rather tasty.
Pink wafers are funny. I always think I don’t really like them, but then I eat one and I want the whole packet!
