Winter

Hasn’t the appearance of spring been a literal ray of sunshine. This winter has been an odd one, watery themed, not too chilled. Much of it spent watching the raindrops on the windows….

rain

We became experts in puddle jumping and indoor activities. We felt grateful our home was a sanctuary from sogginess when other’s were overwhelmed with water.

Rainy days can be peaceful. I like the drumbeat of drops on panes of glass. A good book and a blanket can make for a blissful afternoon. Especially if you add in toasted treats.

book

But the monotonousย misery became a little much for us all. Cabin fever and grey induced tiredness made tempers fray at times. The occasional blue skied day became a jewel to be grasped and treasured.

beach

The beach in winter is a such a different creature from the over crowded, towel infested summer variety. It becomes your own private desert island, still abundant in seaweed and shell treasures.

conquer

And on a clear crisp winters day, you can conquer the sky- as long as you have a big enough stick!

I think we are all enjoying the arrival of much needed warmth and light. So long Winter, may the next one bring us snow…

Oh you’re SO right. I’m all for being anti-social and cooping myself up indoors but even for me this winter has been hard work. Being treated to some sunshine on the school run this morning has me all a flutter! Such stunning photos missus ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

I, for one, is willing winter to end! It is lovely this week but i just know that we are in for some kind of snow storm or something to ruin the spring dreams!

Gorgeous children! Although what is it with sticks? My daughters (and husband, the total weirdo) love nothing more than marching around with a really massive one and pointlessly jabbing at stuff. And then each other.

Love your Winter beaches bit – so jealous.

Amen to all of that! It feels even better than it usually does to know that spring is here this year. So enjoying the warmth and light and sunshine. Fingers crossed for another fabulous summer.

It’s been a really odd mix this winter hasn’t it? Just seemed like endless rain for months on end, unclear as to which season we were in really. Our winter has been pretty dreary with no decent photographs. Shame as I do love this linky. Sweet pics of your boys ๐Ÿ™‚

Beautiful words, wonderfully capturing the cabin fever and the joy at seeing the sun! It’s been snow that has restricted us rather than rain, and I have to be honest, I prefer the snow! But, I am very ready for Spring now… Although, it snowed again this morning, so we’re not quite there yet. But, the kids have loved it, so I’m trying to see it all from their perspective ๐Ÿ™‚ #oneweek

Oh my, yes the Spring sunshine has been so welcomed. Little Man didn’t quite understand though and cried when we gave him a different jacket to wear (he’s become so used to his big, waterproof winter jacket he wasn’t sure what to think!) It looks like you had a fantastic weekend enjoying the sun!

It has been a strange one hasn’t it. Not cold but wet and seems to have dragged on forever! Seeing the spring is amazing and definitely helps lift the mood! Long may it continue!

I loved this so much… your lovely words, and such fab pictures. It’s been a very very odd winter this year, unusually mild, and you really got me thinking about all those who suffered from the floods – what a horrible winter for them… fab post. X

It’s crazy how last week were in winter coats and this week no coats at all! I’m also enjoying the lack of rain!

I’m with you on this. I normally love winter, the brisk cold days and the bracing walks. This winter has just been wet and dreary an damp. I am so pleased for any break in the weather. Bring on the sun!

Your photos are beautiful – they make me wish I still lived by the beach. It isn’t far but with buses and trains as obstacles it’s a bit of a day trip rather than just somewhere we can wander to!

Totally agree – this winter has been somewhat water-themed and any glimmer of sun or simply a dry day meant running outdoors in wellie and making the most of each moment. Fingers crossed for a dry hot summer ๐Ÿ™‚
