Vintage Fair Love

We visited the Bridport Vintage Fair yesterday. I have banned myself from buying anything while we are househunting, because you just don’t know what will fit/suit wherever we end up living next, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t take photos!

Here are a few of the things I loved :-

This car. Oh I want this car. I can’t drive and don’t have a drive to keep it on, which is lucky, or I would not have been able to resist. Don’t look too closely at the rust, just imagine a day out, picnic in the boot, head scarf on, music playing – perfecto…..

And of course I would need a fancy new frock to wear in my fancy new car. I adored this deep blue one – sadly I doubt it would have fitted and it would have ended up relegated to the wardrobe along with all my other fancy frocks that rarely get an airing….

Blue vintage 1950s cocktail dress

I like a nice knocker, and this bull one appealed to me, just need a suitable new door to pop it on…..

This collection of pipes reminded me of my Granddad. I used to adore the appley scent of his pipe tobacco when I was a girl.

If there was one thing I would have loved to buy, it was this bar – it is in the shape of the front of a boat, and sadly wasn’t for sale – which is lucky for the kids as I would have had to leave them behind to fit it in the car. Bit of a blurry indoor pic, but you get the idea. Now, where can I buy me a Captains hat?

And I would need cocktail prettiness to go with it, be rude not to.

Finally, I have a bit of a thing for typewriters. One day I will go old school and you will all have to sit by the letter box waiting for my latest gems to pop through of a morning.

We had a lovely hour pottering around, must remember to go without a toddler next time though, there is nothing more likely to strike fear into the heart of a parent than a toddler in a china filled shop……aaarrgghhh!

How did you spend your weekend?

I hate pink and I don’t drive either but I want that car! I love old stuff and I nearly bought a typewriter the other week but I have no idea if Smiths sell typewriter ribbon?

Looks like a fab day out, I have suddenly got a thing for charity shops and car boots, I spent mine clearing out the playroom, spray painting an old coffee table and adding to the Moroccan den. Cant wait to see what you do when you move in to your new place!

What gorgeous things! Great idea to take pictures of everything. I really love that little typewriter, we used to have a similar one when I was younger!

Sounds like my perfect day out!

That pink Moggy is fabulous, I so miss our Doris the Morris.

The dress is fab too. Glad I didn’t go, I’d have bought it all.

Oh wow – that’s all gorgeous! I have to avoid vintage fairs for the simple reason that there’s far too much that I want to buy. And I too really want a vintage typewriter. One day, one day…

You must have marvellous self control not to have purchased any of these lovely finds. I especially love the car and the vintage dress.

Ooh yes I would like you popping typed posts in the post, that would be very cool. Loving that car. My parents had a Morris when I was little; blue though not pink and you could see daylight through the floor!

Oh my goodness! So much lovely stuff. I love the cocktail glassware – it’s so colourful. And can I imagine myself wearing that beautiful blue dress while zipping along country roads in the pink car? Well yes, yes I think I can…

Oh you can’t beat a vintage fair even if you are just having a little look round. Loving the typewriter, I’m currently in search of an excuse to get one.
