Holy Duplo Batman!

We love Batman in our house – from the pure kitsch joy of the vintage TV series to the modern film interpretations, taking in the comics along the way of course, so I was very happy to accept Duplo’s kind offer to send us something from their new Superheroes range to try out. It went without saying that the big kids in the house were going to like it.

There was some question over whether the actual children would be allowed to play with it, or whether to add it to the other Batman memorabilia on our shelf of joyous things, but in the end our kinder side won out and we let Syd have a play! Sadly he doesn’t sit still long enough to get an unblurry pic, but it was a big hit, especially the ability to fire stuff from the Batwing!

The Batcave Adventure set is great. It comes with a Batwing, a desk set-up and a Batcave complete with slide. We love the moving features – the spinning Bat logo, the windable hooked rope, and the spinning Bat desk. It has two figures included – Batman (of course) and Catwoman (my personal heroine), and Robin can be seen on the screen of the two computer blocks included.

The set looks cool when put together following the instructions, but in true lego style can also be imagined in your own way. Syd spent hours playing with it yesterday, and I spent hours teaching him to say ‘POW’, ‘BAM’ and ‘OOF’. And excitedly shouting ‘Holy Shark Repellant’ and other selected quotes from the TV series.

The set’s RRP is £39.99, but a quick scout online finds it available from £32 and I think we will get value for money from it. I am sure it will get used for years to come, both alone and as part of our larger Duplo collection, before quietly getting stolen for display purposes when he grows up!

There are two other sets in the Superheroes range – The Joker Challenge (which I am going to get for us – it has a Batmobile – who doesn’t want a Lego Batmobile?!) and Superman Rescue.

So if you ever wanted to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight, but in a Duplo stylee,  this is the range for you. Ideal for Batman fans, big and small – we love it!

I’m a huge superhero fab too, my favourite type of films to watch. I think those Lego sets look brilliant, you so need the Joker and Batmobile now! For something so well made, and has such a long shelf life in term of being played with/collected really worth the money!
