Octonauts Gup Speeders Launcher Review

The Octonauts are very popular in our house, we love the original books and the TV series and already have a few of the characters gleaned from the magazine knocking around the house. So when offered the chance to review the Octonauts Gup Speeders Octo Launcher I had to say yes.

When the crew needs to reach a creature in trouble, you can ready the Gup Speeder Launcher! Just press the Octo-Alert to send the Gup-B speeding out from the Launch Bay and zooming off into a new rescue mission! Includes launcher and a special Gup-B! “

The launcher resembles the Octopod, so I knew it would be an immediate hit, and it was. It takes a few quick clicks to fit together and then you are ready to play. You pop the gup speeders into the blue compartment at the top. Hitting the red Octoalert button on top of the launcher swings the arms down and sends your Gup Speeders revving up round and round and then whizzing down the ramps. The toy comes supplied with one Gup speeder, a special gold one driven by Captain Barnacles, but you can purchase additional ones separately, either singly or in multi packs, from about the £5 mark – we were also given a Peso in a lovely smart green Gup-E.

The Gup Speeders Octopod Launcher is retailing at £24.97 from Asda, which I found a reasonable price, and is bound to appeal to both fans of the show and general vehicle fans. My son loves whizzing cars of all manner about currently so the combination of cars and one of his favourite shows is a guaranteed winner. His only slight disappointment was that he wanted to use it in the bath, to recreate the Octonauts underwater experience but the toy is not intended for water play so I had to dissuade him! Other than that little niggle it is a big hit in our house.

I think there are other Octonauts toys that are bath friendly, I can see why he thought he should be able to go in the bath with it, but luckily he wasn’t too grumpy when I said he couldn’t!
