Winter In West Bay

My daughter is rediscovering her love of photography and requested heading out somewhere yesterday to take some snaps. It had to be somewhere that would also occupy a three year old, so we settled on a trip to West Bay. We are lucky enough to live a few miles from there, and seeing it on Broadchurch this week reminded me how beautiful it is and how we were overdue a return visit.

Boy it was cold and windy, but so, so stunning too. We slipped and slid our way up and down the towering hills of shingle. We looked for pretty stones. We ran away from the stinging winds to revive ourselves with hot chips on the harbourside. And my daughter snapped away. On my camera, (hers currently being a bit broken) which meant I had to rely on my trusty phone for my own snaps. The following are a combination of her snaps and mine.

Having got more than our prescribed dose of very fresh air we decided on a visit to Molly’s Den in Bridport for hot chocolates and vintage mooching. This recently opened warehouse is packed with all sorts of pretty things, vintage delights, gorgeous furniture, frocks and hats and all manner of fabulous stuff. It also has a very cute rock’n’roll themed cafe, and importantly a kids play area with toys and bricks and the like to occupy Syd. Betsy was able to sneak off and take some stylish photos of the bits and bobs that caught her eye, (I will save them for another day as this post is already a bit photo heavy), and Syd had some cake and a play while I warmed my bones with a hot drink. A perfect Sunday.

How was your weekend?

Love Miss Cisco XXX

It looks like the perfect place for a spot of photography, and even though it is dreadful weather at the moment nothing quite beats a walk by the sea ๐Ÿ™‚

Lovely! There’s nothing better than getting out on a windy day, and you’re the second post I’ve read today that has inspired me to inspire the kids on a walk by getting them to take photos.

I love heading down to the beach whatever the weather, it looks like you had a great but blustery day. Plus a rock n roll cafe sounds ace x

God I love Broadchurch, it is such great TV. Though I do want to grab Olivia and stop her crying and make her my new BFF

That looks perfect! Such gorgeous photos of Syd too. I have often commented during Broadchurch that it looks really beautiful. I have never been and would love to visit.

We went to West Bay when I was pregnant with the twins and LOVED it. Ever since Broadchurch we’ve been dying to return.

I drove through West Bay after going to the Spring Tide festival last May and was surprised how small it is. I really need to come back for a proper visit and stand where David Tennant did, after all that the closest i will get to him

What a great post, I bet it was lovely to get out with the two of them and not have to worry so much about snapping away. They’re all fab photos. The beach in winter is great fun, a lot less people and almost as much to do. Overall sounds like a brilliant day out. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.
