Welcome to this weeks Oh You Pretty Things, this week is all about the Love, and Keynko and I would love you to link up below!
Now I don’t actually do Valentines Day, but that doesn’t mean I am lacking in romance, just that I prefer it spontaneous rather than prescribed. Romance comes in many different ways – I remember being really touched once that an ex, without being asked, took my broken specs to be mended because he knew I was too busy – that is romance. My bloke buys me flowers from time to time, not for an occasion or an anniversary, just because he feels like it that day – that is romance.
This week is about showing the items in your house that remind you of love – now that may be a piece of jewellery or a soft toy, or it may be a ticket stub or a champagne cork. What do you keep about to remind you of your love?
In our early days, before we lived together, my other half used to sometimes send me things in the post – a CD he thought I would like, or once a ghettoblaster when I had no stereo briefly. These things were accompanied by notes, and I kept them. In my knicker drawer. Clean knickers obvs, I mean who has a dirty knicker drawer except those with peculiar fetishes.
Tickets for shows we have been to together, or wristbands from festivals. These are all on a big pinboard in our kitchen and on a day when life seems all about the dirty dishes, these remind me of more rock’n’roll times spent together.
Not an engagement ring, or a wedding ring. Neither of us have any particular desire to go down that route, but a ring containing the birth stone of our son – a person who binds us far more than any document could. It is the only piece of jewellery I wear daily, and I only remove it for messy cooking tasks.
So there are just three of the little things that remind me of our love – of course really our house is filled with reminders. What little things have you kept as romantic tokens? We would loved to see them and if you fancy writing about them you can link up below,
