This week Oh You Pretty Things is hosted over at Keynko, and her theme is socks. You know, those things you use to keep your feet warm. Socks have got good haven’t they? As a kid I only remember my virgin knee highs (as we called them at school – the white, pull up socks with a small holey pattern) or other boring plain ones. My kids have monsters, dinosaurs, hearts, flowers, and all manner of characters on theirs.
And I have an array of different ones too – anchors and spots to fulfill my slight rockabilly tendencies, leopard print for punk rock days, owls and foxes for cute feet and striped ones – I do love a stripey sock.
What I am not good at is hanging onto pairs – I partly blame the teen who rifles through my drawers when she has run out of clean ones (mainly because she seems unaware of where the washing basket is) and myself for my haphazard approach to clothes washing and my general untidy nature. Still, nowt wrong with odd socks.
Which is lucky really, as when I was sorting out Syd’s underwear drawer the other day, he had 17 odd socks. Seventeen. That surely defies the laws of probability and should be at once investigated by some sort of quantum maths chap.
I think in the washing basket of life I am an odd sock, with a quirky design and possibly a hole in the toe, much loved but works better when paired with another odd sock, (my other half – definitely a stripey sock), for an unconventional but good relationship.
Next week Oh You Pretty Things is back with me, and the theme is small. What are the things you love that fit in the palm of your hand?
Love Miss Cisco XXX
So glad I’m not the only one who has odd socks! And I’m loving the shoes – almost as much as the socks!

I LOVE my shoes, they are the only girly ones I own, and are Hush Puppies and really comfy despite having a heel (a small heel, but nonetheless!)

Your odd socks actually make quite a nice pair. But I would be flummoxed if I ended up with 17 unmatched ones!

None of the tiny 3’s socks match ever after the 1st wash cycle, luckily they have to wear plain grey socks for school so its easy to find a pair monday-friday.

17 unmatched is an awful lot. I would so have used a post like this as an excuse for new ones. Love new socks and something a little bit different.

I love funky socks. We have lots of odd pairs in our house but nowhere near 17 pairs. That must be some kind of world record!
Where DO all those odd socks go?I’m baffled by them and have a huge bag of socks who have lost their pairs……bizarre!

I stopped buying the teen different designs on socks and now he has plain black ones, lots and lots of plain black ones so he doesn’t have to bother about pairing them!
I, however, have lots and lots of patterned fluffy ones and I LOVE them. I have to stop myself buying 3 pairs (99p each or 3 for £2) every time I go into Pondstretcher!
