A Day Trip to London

Last weekend I went to London for the day to meet up with my eldest. She is at university in Manchester and having not seen each other for a few weeks we decided to meet up in the middle. Amazingly her journey from oop North takes far less time than mine from the South Coast, and London is the easiest place to meet up when commitments mean neither of us can manage a whole weekend visit.

We both made it to town by 12-ish, which gave us about 7 hours to kill, and as we are both fans of taking a photo we decided to start by taking a stroll from Waterloo to Covent Garden, taking in some of the landmarks on route. The weather was against us though, and it was dark and rainy so snaps had to be hurried to protect cameras from the water. Here are a few of mine that came out not too badly…

We visited some colourful fun themed shops, the Japan Centre for treats for my middle child who loves all things Japanese, stroked gorgeous stationery in Kikki-K and snapped flowers, followed by a late lunch at Bills, which was totally delicious.

At this point the cold and damp got to us, and after deciding on a future business plan involving opening a chain of ‘Nap Cafes’, Betsy asked if we could visit the Imperial War Museum. So we did, hopping on our first tube of the day down to Lambeth North, where upon disembarking we noticed a rare sight – an empty tube platform – irresistible for photographer wannabes!

We headed off to the Imperial War Museum, which was moving, informative and really very good – but I will save that for another post,
