In A Tuff Spot

Some people might wonder if us parent bloggers are neglecting our children in order to write our blogs, and mess about on social media, but I can hand on heart say it has made me a better mum. From visiting other peoples blogs and lives I have come across some inspirational parenting, that makes me pull my socks up and do it a bit better myself.
My most recent purchase has been a Tuff Spot. I have seen them around on several blogs the past few months, being used for all sorts of extraordinary messy play- from bowls of water, to whole dinosaur islands. We live in a large, wonky old building, and it is a lovely home, but regretfully we have no outdoor space to call our own. We live in a beautiful town with a plethora of parks, and the open countryside is but 5 minutes from our front door, but you can’t take a bowl of water up to the park to pretend to wash up in! So I got a tuff spot so we can have messy play at home in a slightly tidier fashion. (oh believe me, it is still messy, we would need a tuff spot the size of the room to avoid any, but it certainly is a big help in keeping a little more mess contained)
So far we have….
Play Doh’d
Made a mess with oats and lentils and stuff!

Made Our Own Moon Sand

‘There is a small chance I tried to eat some…’

We have also set up the tuffspot as a farm, and it is fabulous for cars! I have plans for dinosaurs and water beads for this weekend. It has been well worth the fifteen pound investment.

I would like to dedicate todays post to the memory of Matilda Mae, a beautiful little girl who should be celebrating her first birthday today. Unfortunately she was lost to SIDS 3 months ago.
 Shine bright little star.
Her Mums wonderful blog , Edspire , is full of brilliant ideas for messy play. Her Mummy Jennie is a fabulous creative parent to her twin toddlers, and I look forward to finding more fabulous inspiration for things to do with Syd there.

The fact that I live in a small flat and am usually sent to the kitchen to do any sort of messy play I am left wondering how I have never heard of one of these before! I am so going to look into this.

I’ve not heard of one of them by name, but seeing it in your post they do look good. My problem is my garden – it needs doing and is muddy, lumpy not safe – this would be perfect.

A very fitting post for Matilda-Mae’s birthday.

We love our Tuff Spot. I bought it after seeing how much fun Jennie and her family have with theirs. It’s just one of Tilda’s many legacies. I can’t wait until Potato is a little older and I can try some more imaginative messy play. For now, we just stick to making a good old mess!

What a great post! We love our Tuff Spot so much that we now have two and I may well by a third when the winter comes. They have revolutionised our play at home, messy and otherwise. Your photos are lovely. The ‘I may have eaten some’ photo is just adorable. I can imagine there would be many shots like that of Baby Tilda now. She would have been just right for messy play now. She would have loved it and it breaks my heart that she is not here x Thank you for remembering Tilda on her birthday, it means so so much. Thank you x

Thank you for commenting, without your blog I would never have come across a tuff spot, what an inspiration you are! As for remembering Tilda on her birthday, I remember her daily, as I am sure many other bloggers do too. Thinking of you x
