Doing The Important Stuff

Morning. Been a while hasn’t it! In fact it is 2 whole weeks since I last posted which is totally unknown for me, but life got busy.

We moved, obvs, then we had to clear and clean the old place (keys tearfully handed back at the end of last week). And there are still boxes to unpack here, and permanent homes to find for things that have just been shoved out of sight for now. ( I would put money on some of them still being in those places in a years time!)

But mostly what kept me away from here was the Easter holidays. My youngest really doesn’t like me being distracted by computers and phones at the moment. He closes the lids firmly, with a cry of ‘play with me Mummy.’

While initially (and still occasionally – I am not perfect) frustrated by this, I made a conscious decision to try not to get wrapped up in blog stuff while he is here, instead squeezing it into the few hours a week of pre-school supplied solitary time. Except in the holidays there is none of that, so there has also been no blogging. Instead there has been lot’s of far more important stuff, like this……

I cannot believe that on Friday I will find out which school he will go to in September. He is only three. He will be three right up until the middle of August, just a couple of short weeks before he starts school.

I will be honest, he may be ready by then, but I doubt I will be. Oh how I wish I had that extra year with him as a pre-schooler that those with a September birthday get. He is my last baby. This is my last go at doing this and I don’t want to spend too much of it dismissing him while I search for the perfect word for a blog post.

So I am back, for now, I love blogging and will be happily tip tapping away in those few hours a week of freedom, but most of the week I will be treasuring the last few months before school steals my baby (over dramatic? A bit maybe!).  And even on the days where he defies me at every turn and I want to cry with frustration, there will be perfect moments with my small chap and I don’t want to miss any of them.

Love Miss Cisco XXX

Aw but just think of all the delightful reception crafts he’ll bring home every day, it’ll all be worth it. I am of course hoping you’ll also get a box of cat food with five sequins on the top, and their look of utter delight at creating something so “good”….. 😉

hide it under the stairs or something, then you’ll start to forget about it (as will Syd!) – then you can recycle 😉

Looks like you had a perfect holiday and I hope you’ll all be really happy in your new home. I am glad to have grasped every moment with my littlest while he was at home before school and it’s heartening to read you (and others) doing the same xx

If I am honest, I am still not used to Harry being in school and I had to keep myself busy this morning so that I didn’t get upset about him going back to school, ridiculous much? On the plus side, you really do learn to make the most of after school and weekends. That said, I am not sure I am ready for six weeks of summer holidays! Xx

Happy to hear that you’re making the most of your youngest for as long as possible. Four is too young to go to school and leave mum home alone. Mine were September babies and we had almost an entire year to play and have fun.

This is lovely. I knew when I had mine that he would be my one and only child, so I try so hard to spend time with him as much as possible and forget about the other stuff. How fast the time goes! Mine’s been in reception since September, and though I love the time it gives me to work, I so miss the amazing time we had together…where every day was a new adventure that we could write together.

    All the best! xx

It sounds like you had a lovely time over the holidays and I don’t blame you for spending as much time as you can with your little one. x

It looks like you’ve both been having a lovely time doing fun things. It is hard when summer-born children start school – but some schools let them do a shorter day so maybe that’s an option? My daughter has a July birthday and she was allowed to start school in January instead of September.

My eldest is also an August birthday, and she (and all her classmates born after the 1st of Jan) only went mornings until Xmas, then full time after – wish they still did that as standard here!

It looks like you had a lovely Easter break together. We find out on Wednesday about reception places for September. I want to sob that they can’t take my baby away from me yet! I hope you get the place you want x

Well done for having a blogging break. I am mummy’s last baby, I am two and a half now. Mummy tries (and does well really!) at juggling being with us, building memories and blogging!

Such a lovely post and such lovely photos. He looks such a happy little boy and he really doesn’t look old enough for school! More time with him would be so lovely, but fingers crossed he gets a good school that you’re happy with. x

Oh such gorgeous photos and yes that stuff is far more important than blogging. I was the same last year with the prospect of A going to school and L is a late August baby and I so wish I could have kept him back a year. It really is hard preparing for the last one to go to school and I can’t lie as I have found this year really tough knowing that there are no more babies, but you do survive and there are the weekends and holidays to make up for those days in school. You keep enjoying the important stuff the blog will still be there at the end of it all

I too have been really trying this holiday to keep the laptop closed and phone off during the daytime with the kids. It was quite hard to start with as I’m always itching to know what’s going on on social media, but now I’m in the swing of it I’m actually quite enjoying totally immersing myself in what they’re doing rather than constantly checking my phone and only half being with them.

Looks like you had a great holiday. Blogging is like work for a lot of people (rather than a hobby as it is for others) and if thats the case then you should definitely take a break from blogging with your holiday.

Ah it’s sad they have to go to school, I felt exactly the same when my twins went. They too are August and werent ready (that’s a whole other story though). I still wish I’d had an extra year those with a September birthday get….. it’s not fair lol! I don’t blame you for devoting your time to him. He’s gorgeous by the way x

Z always says “put your phone down mummy!” which makes me feel really guilty! Love your pics, it looks like you had a brilliant time. I’m finding it a bit of a weird time right now with Z starting school in September, arrrgh!
