Toy Story 12” Action Armour Buzz Lightyear Review

Having been at this parenting lark for 18 years now, I have watched a lot of family films, and one of our all time favourites has to be Disney’s Toy Story and it’s sequels. The original film came out the year before my daughter was born, but soon became a firm favourite on video (back in the pre-DVD days!) and we visited the cinema for the subsequent releases.

One of the joys of having big age gaps with my children is getting to introduce some of the characters my elder ones have loved to my youngest. We have just got into Toy Story now Syd has turned three, and when offered the chance to review an awesome Action Armour Buzz Lightyear toy I could not refuse.

I don’t know who was most excited – my eighteen year old or the three year old – I wish I had filmed my big kid when she opened the plain cardboard box containing the Buzz toy, when she saw what was inside she squealed with delight and looked just like she did as a little girl again! What I can show you is the look on my youngest’s face when he got his mitts on him. Happy boy!

Buzz Lightyear Action Armour

The 12″ action figure has all-new space wings and mega blasters and 75+ sounds and phrases. Let’s take a look…..

We are enjoying playing with this toy – in classic kid fashion my youngest is shooting my ten year old with the blasters and then giggling wildly while his brother overacts a slow demise. At just three Syd can easily manage the buttons that operate the wings and enjoys hearing the film snippets. The toy is solidly built and has withstood plenty of tumbles to the floor mid-flight! He is quite heavy for a small chap to manage and we have all had to duck from time to time to avoid being clonked in the forehead with a flying Space Commander as Syd whizzes him round the room!

The Action Armour Buzz Lightyear retails for a RRP of £49.99, but I have found him widely available at £44.99 from Amazon and various other big retailers – the best price I found currently was £41 from Very*. It is quite a pricey toy, definitely in the Christmas present category rather than pocket money, but is sure to see good use from Toy Story lovers, as well as being an iconic character toy which is bound to also appeal to collectors and the like. I know I will be hanging onto this one for displaying with my some of my other favourites when Syd grows up.

I know my little man would love this for Christmas. Toy Story is always a big hit in our house. (can’t believe I’m thinking Christmas presents already!)

I have already bought some – I hate seeing decorations and hearing music this early, but I do start buying bits and bobs from September onwards – otherwise I’d never afford it!

I do love films and toys that span generations. This Buzz look like a really well made sturdy toy athough I can see batteries not being replaced when they run out 😉

Toy Story is awesome. I especially love Bullseye from Toy Story 3. My husband does not understand how adults can enjoy ‘childrens’ cartoons. Poor, lost soul. 🙁

I have to be honest: I’d be pretty excited to get one of these. I love Toy Story! I’m looking forward to watching it with my children later on. My 3-year-old isn’t so good with any sort of peril just yet so we’ll wait a bit longer.

I remember my friend having something a little like this when I was growing up. I love the fact they did a third movie!

We have all the toy story toys as Isaac was obsessed when he was little – they still love play with them!
