Welcome to this weeks Oh You Pretty Things. This weeks theme is ‘cups and mugs.’
Like most people I have a cupboard that is too full of mugs. When everything is clean and put away, they teeter precariously, threatening to tumble out on an unsuspecting door opener. I have giant bucket like mugs for the mornings when my other half requires big tea, and the daintier, thin lipped mugs that my Mum prefers. We have Β funny mugs, affectionate logo’d mugs for the world’s coolest/best Mum/Dad/Brother/Sister, and mugs with pictures of the kids on.
Here are some of my mug highlights.
I, of course, have some rock’n’roll mugs. The top left hand one was recently bought for me by a mate at a Young Knives gig as a consolation for not being able to attend myself. The writing is upside down. That is mug rebellion right there. The middle one is Β a Green Day mug, a Christmas present from a fellow fan. The bottom right one is emblazoned with the words ‘smells like tea spirit’, which is obvs one of the best tea/punk puns ever made. Β The upcycled vinyl coasters were a very cool Christmas gift from the lovely Stressy Mummy.
These next two sets belonged to my Grandparents. Now I have a confession to make, when we cleared my Grandad’s house after he died last year, I was supposed to put these on eBay. Clearly I have not done that. Sorry Mum, I know I already have too much stuff, but I like these too much and I haven’t quite given up on the dream of one day having a kitchen containing a big dresser on which to display them.
And finally this is MY mug. I better not catch anyone else drinking out of MY mug or there will be bother. In all honesty nobody else has ever tried, I think they find the size annoying, but I love being able to wrap two hands around it when I am cold in the morning. Plus it makes me feel kind of sophisticated. And it is a gorgeous colour. My lovely mug.
So, that’s a tour of my favourite mugs, fancy showing me yours? Link up below so I can come and visit, as well as sharing the cup love about the place! Don’t forget to join Mary next Tuesday for Oh You Pretty Things over at Keynko,
Love Miss Cisco XXX

I love the stories behind these and particularly those epic coasters – just perfect for you! That bottom tea set is like my Nana’s and I don’t think tea tastes any nicer ever than when it’s served in bone china. I sincerely hope you soon have a beautiful dresser on which to display them too! X

It’s no good – we have to get our mugs together for a cuppa and a catch up! I love that coffee set, I’m sure my parents had a similar one when I was a kid – but in brown, but then I think maybe everything in the 70’s was brown!
And i need those coasters in my life!

They are ace aren’t they – have seen them a couple of times but not for a few years, had no babysitting last time :/ x
I have already packed away my 18 Christmas mugs, my friend was horrified when I told her after visiting a recent charity shop trawl.I have on top of that probably 20 other mugs, I’ll have to dig them all out and join with my odd collection of mugs *notes: do this*.
