Wow. Four already?! How did that happen? I am sure it was only a few months back that I was traipsing my massive and over due pregnant self on long walks in an attempt to evict a tardy baby. And now that baby is a boy, not even a toddler, and school beckons on the September horizon.
This past year you have really grown up. We finally stopped breastfeeding in February – when you were ready. You talk so clearly now, those cute baby versions of words a diminishing memory. Bread and boup is now firmly bread and soup. And not only do you talk clearly, you talk a lot. A LOT. Sometimes without pausing for breath as you launch into lengthy soliloquies about whatever random thing your brain is pondering.
You tell jokes that make no sense but make us both laugh anyway and pull crazy faces. You are picking out melodies on the keyboard. You still fit on my lap for cuddles and still play with my hair as you fall asleep. You hold my hand when we are out, and I treasure the feel of a small paw in mine.
You like to bounce. On the floor, sofas, beds. We got you a little trampoline for your birthday and you wanted to sleep on it, so enamoured are you with it’s springiness. A ‘bedoline’ you declared.
You are stubborn, recently a teeth cleaning stand off lasted 6 hours. But you know, annoying as it is, I guess that sort of tenacity will take you far! You can be a grumpy little sausage, then as quickly as the dark cloud descended, the sunshine smile reappears. You are lovely and you are loved.
Happy Birthday little bear,
Love Mummy xxxxx
